Suite for symphonic band on film themes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When Berlanga commissioned Luis Mendo and Bernardo Fuster to compose the soundtrack for the television series \"Blasco Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez, la novela de su vida\" and once they had read the script, the first thing they did was to go to Valencia to meet with the maestro Asins Arb\u00f3, as recommended by the filmmaker. Their intention, apart from getting to know the great Valencian composer, was to gather information about some aspects of Valencian folklore and music of the time. The interview was totally enriching. They left his house with clear enough ideas to approach the project in a passionate way.<\/p>\n

The next step was to interpret everything heard during the talk and turn it into music, adapting it in many cases to the images that were being shot, as several of the musical blocks were interpreted live during the filming at the director's request.<\/p>\n

The life of the Valencian writer was so rich and prolific that in the words of Mendo and Fuster: \"it allowed us to work within a wide spectrum of sonorities ranging from intimate music, rondallas, cabaret, to end up in folklore or popular music, without forgetting the cosmopolitan and foreign touches that underlined the passionate, busy and traveling life of the writer\".<\/p>\n

Once the film was finished and screened, they saw that the result was quite close to what they intended, they only had one aspect or nuance to fulfill and that was going to bring them even closer to the musical idea that fills the universe of Luis Garc\u00eda Berlanga: to make a suite for band. A suite that would pay tribute to the great master of our cinema through the sonority of the Valencian bands and at the same time vindicate the life of Blasco Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez.<\/p>\n

For this work a posteriori nothing better than to have the collaboration and contribution of the maestro Ram\u00f3n Garc\u00eda i Soler, who from the very moment he was proposed the orchestration and arrangement of this suite, he got involved contributing with his creative knowledge, to give a new dimension to the original soundtrack.<\/p>\n

The result is this score that, under the structure of a suite, gathers the music of the television series that Berlanga wanted to film for a long time, until he succeeded, and to do justice by spreading the life of his favorite writer and that now, acquires a new dimension outside the screens, to continue paying tribute to such an essential couple of Valencian and world culture.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
